8/11/2010 Update: Services for Matt Renk
Matthew R. Renk, a resident of Buckingham, passed away Tuesday August 10, 2010, after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 15. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of David L. Jr. and Jacqueline Renk. In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his twin brother, Thomas and brother, Andrew; paternal grandparents, David L. Sr. and Patricia Renk; maternal grandparents, Robert J. and the late Joan Dolge; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to share in Matt’s Life Celebration Monday from 10-12:30 p.m. at Holicong Middle School Auditorium, 2900 Holicong Rd., Doylestown, Pa. 18902, where his Memorial Service will be at 12:30 p.m.

A Foundation in Matt’s name will be announced on Facebook and other sources over the next few days. Family services by Leaver Cable of Buckingham.

8/10/2010 Update: Matt Renk passed away
Matt Renk passed away today after complications from his treatment. We will post updates on services and additional information as it becomes available. Please pray for the entire Renk family.

8/4/2010 Update on Matt Renk
Matt was placed on a ventilator today after receiving some stem cells. Please keep Matt and the Renk family in your thoughts and prayers. They all need them right now.

8/3/2010 Update on Matt Renk
Matt Renk still remains in ICU at CHOP with pneumonia. They cannot seem to get a handle on it, and are doing extensive testing to determine what caused it. We will share more information as it becomes available.

Update on Matt Renk, son of Dave Renk, GCS at Lookaway GC

Matt's brain cancer returned recently, and he has been undergoing chemotherapy at CHOP. His battle with brain cancer began in the late spring of 2008 and a tumor was removed on June 11 of that year. The months that followed were filled with rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. By the spring of 2009, Matt was in recovery mode from the treatments and being closely monitored. Close monitoring into 2010 continued to reveal no recurrence until last month, during a three-month evaluation, when it was found that the cancer returned.
