Membership in the PAGCS
Benefits and Process

Our members, from superintendents to professors to commercial salespeople, represent all facets of the golf turf management industry in the Philadelphia region.
Being a member means you are among the most dedicated of professionals in the industry. Members know that no association does more to support its own members. From counseling a colleague with a turf or staffing issue to providing financial support to members in need, the PAGCS is action-oriented when it comes to member services.

The Association is proud to offer a wide variety of opportunities for the membership to connect. Meetings occur most months from April through November and generally include education, golf, meals and prizes. Two of these meetings are held jointly with other chapters for expanded networking opportunities. There are also fun golf events throughout the season, such as team matches. The association recognizes the value of family time. New events on the calendar include a summer family event and a year-end Gala with spouses and guests. The PAGCS strives to supplement the region’s many education opportunities with unique seminars at little or reduced cost to the membership, past examples include, a maintenance facility tour and a free half-day seminar.

The PAGCS is proud of its network of communications that keeps members abreast of the latest news. This network includes regular e-mail updates from the PAGCS office and a classy and award-winning newsletter—The Bonnie Greensward. Published nine times each year, “The Bonnie” is chock full of news, features and great photos from every event. Additionally, members have access to the PAGCS website and all of its updated features.

The Association advocates for the golf turf industry and the profession of the superintendent in many ways. Committees work to provide a strong and unified voice to state legislators, agencies and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America [GCSAA]. We work with local media to foster better understanding—including a radio segment called “Superintendents’ Corner.”

The  membership process: Following the receipt of the completed application and proper fees, each application is subject to three readings of the executive committee. After the first reading, the membership is sent of each new applicant to the association. Prior to the third reading, the applicant and the applicant’s sponsor are invited to meet before the executive committee.  Please note that once notified from the membership chairman of your third reading date, your presence is requested within three consecutive executive meetings.  Failure to do so would forfeit this application and your initiation fee. Your dues would be refunded.

Membership Chairman, Ray Rippert, Indian Valley Country Club, can be reached at 215-723-5411
